In this post you're getting a first look at something new & special: the first 100% electric utes from a brand new company. These are pre-production prototypes, and you're seeing them here first.
This model is a single cab configuration. One of its most user-friendly features is its ability to charge from a standard 10-amp household power plug. The charging cable is stored neatly in the vehicle itself.
Stepping inside, note that this is a pre-production model. The interior is neat tidy and functional, and the charging port is easily accessible with the press of a button.
Next up is the dual cab mine-spec version, which has a more rugged, heavy-duty appearance. It sits on chunky AT tires and features a dual cab, a roof bar with directional lights, a light bar, an amber beacon light, and mine spec pin striping.
The rear is equipped with a power outlet, allowing you to run equipment like fridges and charge power tools, run flood lights, directly from the vehicle. It also carries practical additions like wheel chocks and spare tires.
Make sense if your driving a jumbo battery that you can use the power for other things like running fridges and charging power tools.
This mine spec model features a three-phase, 30-amp plug for significantly faster charging. Inside, it's fitted with seat covers and offers a comfortable, well-appointed cabin.
The driving experience is impressive. The ute feels solid on the road, with responsive steering and a generally good feel. Obviously the big difference to driving a diesel of petrol ute is how quiet the ride is. You can actually hear yourself think. Quite a pleasant experience.
The brakes perform well, but for my personal preference—especially when carrying heavy loads—I would consider upgrading to heavier-duty brake pads for maximum stopping power.
The brand behind these innovative vehicles is Tembo. They are not yet released in Australia and aren't even road-registered, giving you a genuine sneak peek. The official launch is expected towards the end of 2025 or into 2026.
