Just a quick update from the demolition site to show you how things are looking since yesterday's work.

So, we had a bit of wind pick up yesterday afternoon—nothing too windy, but enough that the demo crew decided to play it safe. They left a little more of the structure standing overnight just to make sure it was braced and "wind resistant."

This morning, the guys are back at it. I just chatted with the team, and here’s the plan: they’re going to sort through a bunch of the scrap metal first, run a load to the tip, and then really focus on clearing out the back area of the house. The remaining bit up front here? That’ll probably stay until tomorrow.

It’s Like a Game of Demolition Chess

If you look at the front of the house, not a lot has changed visually yet. Right now, it’s all about the behind-the-scenes logistics—like moving pieces around on a chessboard. They’re bringing all the material from the outside in, sorting it into piles right here on the ground.

And you can really see the system in action. They’ve got one pile going for aluminium, another for steel—keeping it all separate makes recycling way easier and way more efficient. Once a pile is ready, it gets loaded straight into the skip bin and carted away.

What’s Next?

We’ll keep this cycle going—knocking things down, sorting, and clearing—until the whole place is levelled. Then, we shift gears to the concrete demo and removal phase.

Most of this site is a concrete slab, but here’s the thing: we’re actually going to keep some of it right where it is. We’re planning to use it as a hardstand area. That’s going to be super handy later when we bring in the concrete pump; it gives us a solid, flat spot to set everything up without any fuss.

So that’s where we’re at! Making steady progress, piece by piece. I’ll keep you posted as things move along.
