Post 44: Hand-Shaping Thickenings and Starting the Drainage
A week of careful work you can't see much of: hand-shaping the slab thickenings, setting height pins for the blinding, the first sheathed sewer pipe, and a dewatering failure that flooded the pits.
Post 43: Bulk Dig Done, Acoustic Screen Up and Setting Out the Slab
The bulk excavation is finished and the site finally looks like a building site. A DIY acoustic screen cuts the pump noise by about 25 dB, the grid goes up on the profiles, and the thickenings are being set out.
Post 42: Detailed Excavation, Profiles and Watching the Sheets Move
The dewatering is cranking up and the dig is under way. Digging out the slab thickenings, fixing profiles to the sheet piling for the surveyor, and what the daily monitoring is showing.
Post 41: Digging While We Wait on the Water
The water is still being tested, so the dewatering is only trickling. The bulk dig starts anyway, the sheet piles get scraped clean, a second sediment curtain goes in, and the cost of waiting adds up.
